FOB Rasor was born from both a life saved and a life lost.

After Gunny's suicide attempt, Kupp Holder, his dog, saved his life. A Korean War Veteran and POW survivor then helped Gunny find a different way forward—one built around connection, purpose, and Veterans supporting Veterans.

Just six months later, Gunny's best friend, Joe Rasor, died by suicide.

Gunny never got the chance to show Joe the new way of life he was beginning to find—the connection, support, and hope that had been given to him.

When we created this community, we named it FOB Rasor—Forward Operating Base Rasor—in Joe's honor, with a simple intention: Joe's name would be spoken every day.

Today, what began with Gunny's story has become a community committed to being there for the next Veteran before it's too late.

Gunny got another chance. Joe didn't. FOB Rasor exists so the next person doesn't have to fight alone.
